10th “Dresden is(s)t bunt” Banquet on August 31, 2026

Gathering Around One Long Table for Diversity and Social Cohesion

What makes a city truly vibrant?
It is the encounters, the conversations, and the feeling of belonging created when people come together.

That is exactly what the Gastmahl “Dresden is(s)t bunt” stands for.

On August 31, 2026, Dresden’s Neumarkt in front of the Frauenkirche will once again transform into one long communal table in the heart of the city. From 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, thousands of people will gather to share food, ideas, culture, and conversations in an open and welcoming atmosphere.

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Gastmahl has become one of Dresden’s most visible expressions of diversity, hospitality, and civic engagement. Since its beginnings in 2016, the event has brought together associations, migrant communities, cultural institutions, universities, companies, initiatives, and citizens from across the city.

With international food, music, artistic performances, and countless opportunities for dialogue, the Gastmahl creates space for genuine encounters and sends a visible message in support of openness, democratic values, and social cohesion.

Large cultural partners enrich the event with performances and artistic contributions from their institutions, making the diversity of Dresden’s cultural landscape visible in public space.

Diversity Needs Commitment – and Support

The Gastmahl would not be possible without the commitment of numerous sponsors and partners. Companies, educational institutions, public organizations, and social organizations contribute through staggered table sponsorships that help finance the infrastructure and organization of the event.

This solidarity-based model ensures that associations, volunteer initiatives, migrant communities, and cultural actors can continue to participate free of charge and actively shape the event.

By supporting the Gastmahl, sponsors also make a visible commitment to international openness, diversity, and hospitality — values that are essential for Dresden as an international hub for science, research, innovation, and business. A welcoming urban society plays an important role in attracting and retaining international professionals, students, and talents.

💛 Thank you to all partners and supporters who help make this special anniversary possible and show together: Dresden thrives through diversity and community.
